A Call to Action: Agenda 21 in Jefferson County

As we go about our daily existence exercising our unalienable rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness as expressed in the Declaration of Independence, we find ourselves increasingly confronted by government interference and bureaucratic regulation.  As this brief video shows, the United Nations Agenda 21 is international regulation for the green agenda to promote “sustainable development”, not through the free market of ideas and commerce, but through government intrusion in our lives because progressive elitists think they know better than you how to order your life and care for your surroundings.  Like many such programs, it sounds good on its face, as we all want to make the best use of our resources and protect our world for future generations.  But when you get into the details, it is not so benign, as this brief PDF analysis shows.

Why should I care?

It is essential to understand the scope of this agenda and, as a global-to-local program, how it is being implemented locally right now to subvert the Constitution and undermine the very foundations of your freedom,  as one of its’ primary goals is the abolition of private property.  Evidence of this can be seen in the federal governments increasing consolidation of bureaucratic power and their ever-expanding control over property; the percentage of property now owned by the government is staggering!  In addition, the evidence for local implementation attempts is growing.  In the Jefferson County P & Z Master Plan, you can see evidence of the wording typical of Sustainable Development with terms like “Implement higher density, more compact development”, (You’re being herded!) and “voluntary conservation easements”. (Wonder how long they’d be “voluntary”?)

And now we have the EPA Urban Waters program.  This showed up at the last Jefferson County council meeting and was removed from the agenda after a few citizens spoke against it, but is back on the agenda for the next meeting tonight, look at page 91 of the PDF for the bill, #12-0130.  If you take a look at the EPA Strategic Framework that this program springs from (it’s only 9 pages!), you will see very similar terms like “enviromental justice”, “equitable access”, etc.; the same or similar terms to Agenda 21.  In addition, if you remember Ray Cunio, who spoke on Agenda 21 at one of our meetings last year; he describes this as “enabling legislation” designed to hand over jurisdiction of our water resources to the EPA/federal government.  He cited a Supreme Court case, Wickard vs. Filburn, 1954, which has yet to be challenged, that basically stated the feds have the right to regulate what they fund.

We all want clean air and water, and share a desire to protect our world and resources for future generations, but just as hunters and fishermen make the best true conservationists because they want things to hunt and fish, it is best to do this through the people and the free market of ideas and private effort; not from the top down by overreaching elitist bureaucrats!  Do you feel that we really need yet more centralized and intrusive control by the federal government to accomplish this, or are you the best steward of your local resources and to protect them for yourselves and your children?  If you agree with the latter and value your freedom and control, then you need to show up to make your opinion heard!
