We may not have agreed on who the Republican presidential candidate should be.  We may not share precisely the same social views.  We DO agree on the Constitutional principles of smaller government, a balanced budget, lower taxes and less federal interference in our lives.  We the People are coming and we want our power back!  It’s Common Sense.

So, please join us for this day-long family style event Rally for Common Sense on Saturday, May 19th, at the private farm The Patriot Field of Dreams, in Holts Summit, Missouri.  Gates will open at 10:00am central, with two stages, nationally recognized speakers, top entertainers, patriot vendors, exhibitors and fun activities for the entire family.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, sun shades and Frisbees, for the most unique rally ever.  Remember your camera, too!  We will be setting up a Shutterfly account for folks to upload their personal photos and share their experience with patriots worldwide!
But even if you forget your camera, documentarian Alex Rife will be recording the event, along with professional photographers, Robert Brenner and Sasha Borisov.

What to Expect:

Between our featured speakers there will be mini-seminars on the Arena Ideas Stage, covering topics such as the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, nullification and other Constitutional issues. “Occupying” Common Sense will take on new meaning.

Also, there are rural sites for camping whether via your tent or RV from noon on Friday, the 18th, to noon on Sunday, the 20th.  Bonus for campers:  There will be evening activities and a Sunday morning outdoor church service (non-denominational).

They are deciding RIGHT NOW (Thursday, 5/10/12) about which bills to get up on the calendar and out to the Senate floor for debate between now and the end of the session.  Call in any bill you believe needs to go in!

Note:

I was passed this in regards to supporting HB 1637, SOUND MONEY ACT.  Here are the talking points:

1.  Is not controversial as opponents make it out to be. This bill simply makes room in our statutes to allow a business, (called a depository) to hold and exchange precious metals.
   NOTE FROM PAUL CURTMAN:   Don’t say anything about different currencies or a choice of currencies, they will not understand that I’m afraid.
2.  Is an opportunity for Missouri to be out front of economic development generated by capital flowing into “sound money” states such as is happening right now in Utah.
3.   The bill has tremendous support and should require little time in debate.

Thus we respectfully request that the Senate allow it to be heard and voted upon.

Health care has emerged as one of the most important policy battles of our time. The Supreme Court’s ruling in the historic ObamaCare case is expected sometime between June 25 and July 4.
To answer questions about the case, we’re hosting a two-part webcast series on the historic ObamaCare lawsuit (HHS vs. Florida).

I just received this from Ron Calzone:

After unavoidable postponements, the Senate General Laws committee was finally called to order by the chair, Sen. Jane Cunningham, at 1:30 pm today.

We presented your witness form to the committee, along with over 1450 others!  By a vote of 6 to 2, they voted to pass the bill out of committee and on to the full senate.  That’s a major step!

There is one more step — the most difficult step — to go.  The full senate is where bills often meet their final demise.  We still have a huge task before us.

The president pro tem — the top man in the senate — will be handling HB 1534 as it is debated on the floor.  Our main challenge at this point is convincing the majority floor leader, Sen. Tom Dempsey, to give the bill plenty of time for debate and passage.   We have no reason to believe he doesn’t support the bill, so we are hopeful we will have the opportunity for a robust floor debate. 
Friday, May 18th, is the last day of the legislative session this year.

True the Vote is an initiative to ensure a ‘free and fair election.’   It is the brain child of the King Street Patriots, post 2008-election cycle.  From TTV’s website:

True The Vote began out of experiences during the 2008 election cycle of the Harris County, Texas Tea Party organization, King Street Patriots.  KSP gathered to get involved in the electoral process and came to realize that their county was the second largest voting block in Texas but saw a shortfall of poll workers that was staggering. This, they felt, invited fraud and other problems at the polls, problems that they wanted to help eliminate.

Then came the voter registration fraud case perpetrated by a member of ACORN brought to light by Catherine Engelbrecht. Harris County authorities found that some 23,000 voter registration forms turned in by the ACORN operative were invalid. Engelbrecht founded True The Vote to combat this fraud.

By Election Day, 2010 True The Vote had 1,000 poll workers trained and ready to observe the election process at Harris County polling stations.   Immediately after the successful operation in Harris County, True The Vote began to reach out nation wide to help citizens in other counties, in other states learn how to train poll workers to “true” the vote in their home districts.

True The Vote has developed an exportable model with which to train poll workers across the country. Teaching average, every day citizens to research the voter rolls in their home districts and to report inaccuracies to their County and State, to identify instances of vote fraud, and to be able to serve as observers at the polls to assure the integrity of the vote.

True The Vote serves grassroots leaders across the country to help them prevent coordinated attempts to subvert our electoral process.

On May 9th and May 23rd, 6:00 – 7:00pm CDT,  TRUE the VOTE will hold a free Orientation webinar.  The purpose of this webinar is to educate new TRUE the VOTE Volunteers and potential volunteers about our program and how you can get started in your county.  This webinar will be hosted by Catherine Engelbrecht, the founder of the TRUE the VOTE initiative. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
